Two products are recommended for the treatment of grease waste:
1. BIO-REM
E-D, granular bacteria/enzyme formulation for manual treatment of problem drains, pipes, and grease traps. A multi-strain
product which is unsurpassed at keeping grease problems under control at small to medium size restaurants.
2. DrainMaster,
liquid bacteria/enzymes formulation, for automatic injection into grease trap systems at larger restaurants, (including fast
food) with chronic and/or expensive grease waste problems, and restaurants with regulatory issues.
*Both
will eliminate grease buildup.
*Both will eliminate odors associated with grease.
*Both will eliminate emergency backups caused by grease.
*Both will extend the pumping
interval.
WHY GREASE CAUSES PROBLEMS:
Grease is a very complex material to
break down. In most commercial and institutional kitchens, the flow and volume of grease waste is relatively high. This means
that the grease is retained in the drains, pipes and grease trap for a short time - usually not enough time for the waste
to begin breaking down. As a result, the grease cools and congeals on most interior waste line surfaces with other materials
going down the drain, such as food particles and garbage grindings.
Another problem is the toxic loading and high
water temperature used in most commercial and institutional kitchens. Bacteria are necessary for biodegradation of organic
solids, including fats, oils, grease, starch, carbohydrates, proteins, and several other materials. Harsh chemicals and solvents
including wax removers, many cleaning compounds and highly chlorinated dishwasher rinses will have a negative impact on necessary
bacteria colonies in the drainage system. The same is true of excessively hot water used in pot sinks, dishwashers. etc.
HOW BIO-REM E-D AND DRAINMASTER SOLVE GREASE WASTE PROBLEMS:
Both products contain billions
of safe, beneficial, type-specific microorganisms to break down grease waste and eliminate odors. The organisms in BIO-REM
E-D and DrainMaster are naturally-occurring, laboratory-enhanced to permanently break down and digest
the complex substrates in grease waste, changing its biological makeup from grease through the various chains of decomposition,
ulitmately reducing waste to carbon dioxide and water, which can both evaporate harmlessly into the air.
When used
on a regular maintenance schedule, BIO-REM E-D and DrainMaster will overcome the problems
of limited retention time, toxic loading, and high water temperature by replenishing the bacteria population on a regular
basis. Problems are addressed at their source, rather than merely in specific problem areas.
BIO-REM
E-D DOSAGE RECOMMENDATIONS:
FOR SMALL TO MEDIUM GREASE WASTE SYSTEMS:
Cleanout dosage: apply
1-2 pounds of BIO-REM E-D daily for one to two weeks
Maintenance dosage: apply
1-2 pounds of BIO-REM E-D weekly applied on daily or weekly schedule. Mix dosage with at least 1 gallon water
per pound before applying (note: product does not completely dissolve.) Pour solution into problem drains.
DrainMaster:
FOR LARGER TRAPS OR CHRONIC GREASE WASTE PROBLEMS:
Cleanout dosage: Apply 20 fl. oz. DrainMaster
daily for one month. Product can be manually applied problem drainage or automatically injected with DrainMaster
timed metering pump.
Maintenance dosage: Apply 12-16 fl. oz. DrainMaster daily.
